Harry Potter brainstorm
Next week I'm doing facepainting at a Harry Potter event, so I made some matching designs. Since my sisters are helping me, I made step-by-steps for them, and thought you might be interested as well =)
The products are Diamond FX, except the black that it MAC, since it is easier getting of the practice head (but I still haven't figured out how to use it right, so please excuse the bad lining!)
For colours I used #8 round sable, and for the black a #1 round.
Colours used: red, gold, light green, silver, yellow, blue, orange, white, dark green, brown, pink, dark brown and black.
I tried to make them simple and fast - since there is normally tons of children, but some still need some work. So if you have any suggestions, please share.

Re: Harry Potter brainstorm
That's awesome, I love the potion & owls. I know you have lots, but what about a death eater?

Re: Harry Potter brainstorm
Good idea Criss!
Now I just need to transfer this:
into something that can be painted fast, but still being recongnisable.

Re: Harry Potter brainstorm
Very nice . You could also do the unicorn and the spiders . I know that they are regular facepaints, but still...
Re: Harry Potter brainstorm
How about dueling wands? I know it probably wouldn't be fast, but it would sure be cool to see: 1 wand in hand on the lower right and another on the upper left temple (partial hands of course...you'll probably run out of face, lol. Or even one wand hand with the beam of magic streaming across the face? Maybe a word, like Accio! across the cheek....lame?
What about the sorting hat?
A larger flying snitch?
The talking zombie head?
A tombstone that says RIH Tom Riddle (well, we don't want him resting in PEACE, right?)
My all time fav would be a portrait of Prof. Snap with the caption, "I wear dingy underwear/knickers"... but that's just me.
Fluffy, The Phoeneix, A Basilisk, 9-3/4
Yes, I really got into the series...

Re: Harry Potter brainstorm
Oh, the sorting hat would be awsome! Excellent idea...
And the others look great! So impressive!
Dementor
Thestral
Voldemort
(trying to think of the newest movie... haven't seen the movie in a while... longer since I've read the book)
The fire coming out the wand when they are being attacked by the inferi
Love potion, or chocolates with love potion swirls and stars coming out of them
Dobby
Amazing, though, that yours are simple and fast for you! I can't wait until I'm like that!

Re: Harry Potter brainstorm
Those are all totally sweet and they look VERY doable at an event!
I think they've covered the other ideas...but I'm with you...those death eater masks (I have the same link)....rock! But what a pita if you don't have an overlay or something.
I was thinking personally to do either a silver or a bronze base...then just a few key lines in a realy fine liner brush with black or off white (that metallic white would work good). Just to give the impression of who's mask it it. But that can take a long time. Not sure if a stencil would help...but it'd be a pain to make one that detailed.
Great work!

Re: Harry Potter brainstorm
Thank you for all the suggestions, but I'm more looking for ways to improve those I have, than adding more. After all, the event is only four hours!
Re: Harry Potter brainstorm
I was going to mention the death eater mask too. I've had one saved on my computer for that idea, but I've never felt confident enough to pull it off.
Looking forward to seeing what you do with it, Lonewolf.

Re: Harry Potter brainstorm
Thank you. Yes, I do like to make those way to detailed scary faces, that twist the persons own features =)

It is from a old computer game called McGee's Alice, that takes place many yeas after the old Alice tale, where she is at a asylum. But the reason is that there is soon coming a new Alice movie. I don't think it is going to be this dark. But it is a Tim Burton movie, so it is going to be different!
