I am having a hard time finding reviews on these two books, I'm interested in both, but can only buy one. Does anyone have either of these? Are they useful? Which should I get?

Honestly I can't give input as to what is in either but-

I'd say it really depends on where/what/how you plan to paint.
If you are going to paint upper youth/teens to adults go tribal.
If you plan to paint everyone go with the sea.

Facing the Sea is well done and I know with it you can't go wrong.
I know Lisa well and you will get great designs in that book, ones you will use over and over in your daily painting gigs.

My problem is that I have a teenager AND a 5 year old... And I paint both demographics...

Hi LJ

I have Facing the Sea. The lobster idea that I did for the August Challenge came from that book. It has some good hints and things to remember, and her designs are easy to follow, but I don't really know how many requests one would get for sea creatures. Seeing as I live smack dab in the middle of the prairies, there aren't many requests here.

The only sea creatures I have EVER been asked for... are my sharks (cause they are on my display board) and once, ONLY ONCE, a dolphin.

And I'm, as well as being in the Prairies like Judy, am in the North!! Hence the popularity of Wolves.

The tribal Book I have skipped though it I did not see anything eye popping the designs are very basic and there is not many to the book. I dont know much of the other so I cant give an opinion to it.

I live next to the beach so I do a lot of sea themed faces... but I've never seen these books... so I'm sorry that I can't help with input!

Thanks ladies! I really appreciate all of your feedback! I feel like I made an informed decision... I didn't get either (lol)! I've read a lot of good about the illusions & friends book so I got that instead.
