Rake brushes Empty Rake brushes

Post by funfacesforu Sat Jul 18, 2009 9:08 am

I've been using my rake brush more these days, especially on animal noses, whisker area (not the whisker itself but the vertical cheek line) and animal hairs. I saw these very different rake brushes online, how do you think they would work for face painting? http://www.jerrysartarama.com/discount-art-supplies/Brushes-and-Palette-Knives/Watercolor-Brushes/Creative-Mark-Watercolor-Brushes/FX-Effects-Brushes.htm

I like the ribbon brush. Jinny was demo'ing it at the Paradise booth and I suckered up and bought one. Love a new brush!!!

I can see where it would outline a ribbon in a darker color or create cool lines. She even used it to create a tulip double loaded. Very cool. I saw some people using it to do like fish tail designs.

That rake looks strange - would have to play with it to figure out.

I have several daggers and rakes. Those look interesting, but I'm not rushing out to get any. Would be interested to see what people do with them.

They can be hard to find.... the Michaels here NEVER had any. I found WISPS but they aren't the same. I eventually was given a set by a friend in the UK.

I took a flat and made my own by cutting sections of the bristles out. I did find some rake brushes at Hobby Lobby but wasn't willing to pay the price they wanted for them.

I use angular brushes all the time. I luv em. I like how you can go from a fat line to a very skinny line and a flick.

I actually use the angular for alot of things. Especially larger areas, like a full face, because I can be very careful around the eyes with the tip. I use them to do alot of detailing, like wisps, or even tear drops. Play with one and you will be amazed at what you can do with them. Smile I use several different sizes and yes they are really good for lines.
