I know this is dumb but I'm excited... Empty I know this is dumb but I'm excited...

Post by Denise Cold Fri Sep 02, 2011 8:41 pm

I have 4 jobs booked for September already. I'm excited because 3 of these were people seeking me out personally through my website or other avenues. Two of them are jungle themed which should be a kick in the pants and a full-on princess one. One of them even worked around a vacation weekend I have coming up.

Just remind me of this special time when I've got 4 parties a day like you experienced ones and I might not be so excited about it. Smile

Fun, fun.

Thanks for the support folks!

I just got my first "I can't paint because I've got something else scheduled" call today...third week in September is busy for some reason. It felt good because price was her first question. It's a little weird because I think I have my price posted everywhere except like Gig Salad and they don't have my number on there.

My husband actually said "Hey, I've got to put you on my schedule now" because I booked a party on a day he has a association picnic and he hadn't written it down on the calendar.

Yeah to busy.

I've had to turn down two more jobs for the few days I'm taking a little trip with my Mom. It sure puts a new twist on the cost of a vacation! That's at least an extra $150.00 if not more.

How do you busy guys handle taking time off without freaking out about missed business. I'm thinking of training an apprentice in my style to take jobs I can't take and help at larger events.

I decided to take on a trainee too Denise. Her style is different but the quality of her work is what matters to me. I am hoping it works out because regular job is back (school bus) and I am starting to burn out with working 7 days a week. I have the same reasoning...a day off once in a while and someone to help out at the bigger events.

Best wishes at finding the perfect soloution for you.

Good for you Denise!! cheers Last yr, I asked 3 people to think about learning to paint so they could help me at some larger events. Out of the 3, 1 has really gotten on board. She bought her own paints now from the forum and is going to be very helpful to me in the future. I think , if it is someone you want to work with and they are reliable, it could be very helpful to have them as a go to person.

Make sure they are reliable though. I offered a certain helper good pay to go with me one day and at 6 am the day of the fest, they cancelled on me, no real reason, just cancelled. Needless to say, I won't ask them to go along again. Some people can be Flaky! geek

I have a friend in mind but I have no idea if she can even paint so I'd have to test her without promising anything yet.

I'm just trying to figure out how I would have them work under me so I could control the quality of the painting and materials but then have a symbiotic (?) relationship where we work toward the common good and share gigs that we generate.
