Utah Painters? Empty Utah Painters?

Post by Denise Cold Fri Sep 02, 2011 8:34 pm

I'm putting together a list of central Utah painters that might want to get together maybe 4x a year to jam/swap notes. I would host events in my home in Orem.

Are you out there???

I live in Syracuse (Davis County) but I'm willing to drive down once or twice a year. I could use some other painters in my network.

I live up in Idaho, but my parents live in pleasant grove. If you do get together, I would love to know about it, and see if I can make it down.

Cool! I was thinking that Park City might be a little more centrally located (and a little more fun than Orem) but my house is right off the freeway. What do you think?

I'll make sure I post it whatever we do.

Yay Dana! So you would like it if we met in Park City, I bet. Wink I'm hoping to get something together before Halloween and maybe share Halloween designs.

I'm thinking earlier in the week so we don't interfere with gigs.

Thanks for responding.

Utah Painters? Empty Re: Utah Painters?

Hi again, Denise

I still very interested in getting together with our fellow Utah painters.

Park City would be great...also I have some connections here in both Heber and Midway for possible cheap resort meeting rooms or there is are some meeting rooms at the rec center here in Heber for about $50 for two hours.

I think this would be a great small jam for us all and not only for sharing tips and ideas for designs but also for networking ideas. I LOVE to network. When I lived in California, I had my own resume business and did classes on networking. Great fun!

Let me know what you think about Heber area. I also have a great resource for arranging convention type rooms, hotel/resort weekend stays for a possible weekend jam for us. I can what prices I can get...I just need to how many of us would be interested (more the better, more fun and cheaper).

Maybe you could teach us to network! I was wondering about something overnight so those that have to travel could stay if they wanted and drive home refreshed. Or, I guess we could do something for lunch and jam until dinner time.

My husband teaches at UVU, maybe he could get a deal at the Wasatch Campus too...hadn't thought about that.

How bad is the snow in early November? If we don't do it soon the weather could be more of a factor.

Lots of questions. Everyone I've mentioned it to has been open to it though so I think we'd get a few people out.

Utah Painters? Empty Re: Utah Painters?

Post by Denise Cold Mon Nov 14, 2011 6:18 pm

I've been checking around in SLC close to the mouth of the canyon off I-80 so you Wasatch County painters can HOPEFULLY come, anyway, I found a Ramada Inn at 2455 South State Street that has a 900+ sq. ft. classroom that we can rent from 5 pm to 9 pm for $90.00. I asked her about November 28th and it was available...that's a Monday. I figured December would be too hectic so this would be about the only date this year.

I asked about rooms in case someone didn't want to drive home that night and she said she'd give us a good rate because of the rental of $79 per night (normal is $89). That's pretty good for that location compared to some hotels that are $169.00 a night.

Can we get something like this put together? If we could just get 10 of us together it would be less than $10 to pay for the room rental. I've been gather emails as I came across them so I'll try to send out email invitations but would appreciate you checking with face painters you know and seeing if we can get a commitment or at least interest for another time if they can't come now. If this works, we could have another one in the Spring.

Let me know what you think and email me at denise@paintedparty.com and I'll start a Utah Painters Group (maybe a Yahoo Group?) and we try to throw this thing together.
