A Long Overdue Intro from Copperas Cove, TX (Killeen/Fort Hood Area)
HI Everyone! It just occurred to me that I've been a registered member of FPF.com for a few months now and I've never actually posted my introduction.
My name is Deanna and I began face painting when I was still in HS (1992 ish...) I mostly painted for fund raisers or military / school events for many years but decided to turn my hobby into a part time weekend job. Getting started was rough and being that I'm in a military town I get a lot of request for military discounts or free events... Financially speaking - 2010 was the first year where I actually earned enough to file as a bona fide business. I hope that I'll be able to end 2011 in the black.... that would be nice. My Husband and close friends all say that I've been under charging for the longest time. LOL but this is a whole different area
I am self taught and from my understanding I am the only professional face artist in my area. We have a few clowns that specialize in clowning and balloon twisting and offer face painting on the side but as far as a non-costumed face artist... I'm it. I would love to meet up with fellow artist in the area and would be happy to take a 60 min trip down to Austin, TX once an a while for some networking.
I would love to attend some of the face and body art conventions sometime in the future. I've been dreaming about attending the annual FABAIC for years and years - but never seem to find the means to make it down there. Hopeful with my new (and well adjusted) pricing I'll finally be able to earn some green for some serious professional development.
Until then (big sigh) I'll continue to turn to ya'll for inspiration and guidance as well as published books by the FABA Greats to aid me in refining my current level of face painting.
I look forward to meeting everyone online and hopefully some of ya'll in person. Just a few random pics of me at work.
