Australia Day ideas?
So I've got a job for 4 hours on Australia Day. I'm thinking I might need a stencil for the flag? And I'm guessing if henna jobs are anything to go by then the Southern Cross, but I was wondering if anyone did anything cool but outside the box? I remember seeing gorgeous gumnut babies on here once..I'll be searching for them again tonight. I suppose I just need an excuse to break away from rainbow butterflies, fairy princesses, monsters and spiderman for a day...
Re: Australia Day ideas?
there is an aussie comp on snazaroo at the moment with some fantastic aussie inspired faces.
i guess aussie flag butterfly's. kangaroo's, koala's and emu faces. but for easy i would just make a red, white and blue split cake, a long swipe a few stars and done!

Hey Synni can you paste the link for the snazaroo aussie contest please. I've had a look & can only find old snazaroo contests nothing current. Thx.

Re: Australia Day ideas?
Wow thanks guys. I am suddenly inspired again. To me Australia Day was becoming synonymous with drunk yobbos draped in flags and I wasn't looking forward to it but the Snaz comp has some wicked pics. Love Lone Wolf's Roo! And Tash your daughter totally owns that koala.
Re: Australia Day ideas?
I painted at the WACA ground for the Australia vs Sri Lanka Game and came up with this design. It was very popular. Its just half face yellow, half face green and stars in opposite colours on each side. I was also practising a few fairly quick Australian designs a couple of weeks ago and thought I would share them. The koala in particular was very quick to paint and could be added to.
Sorry about the quality of the photos, they were taken on my phone and I haven't worked out how to capture the photo without the flash making the pic shiny.

Thanks for the tips, Synni. I think I am a bit technologically challenged!
It's taken me ages to work out just how to post the photos on here. I took some pics of my new glitter tattoos today and they worked out a whole lot better using you advice, thanks again. Kim.

Re: Australia Day ideas?
I was playing with this last night after Tash mentioned the butterfly in the Snazaroo Flags comp. I was kinda going with an Australia-ish shaped butterfly with lots of dots cause dot paintings are the real Oz to me..
I think it will be on my face this Oz Day although I've just ordered some Pearl Green and Pearl Gold to play with and I'll be trying the Aussie monster tonight too so who knows.

Re: Australia Day ideas?
I had a play with a green and gold butterfly too. I guess the grossness of this colour combo will look ok in context.
Re: Australia Day ideas?
Well I survived Australia Day. It was insanely windy, dusty and hot. Probably some of the toughest conditions I've worked in in years of henna-ing at all sorts of festivals in all sorts of weather. Give me a hailstorm over a dusty wind tunnel any day!! The worst thing was the walls of my stall acting as a kite and picking up my table and knocking my paints onto the ground and even though I had rugs they were dusty and there was dirt and dust on everything... drama drama! It took me hours to clean my kit afterwards!
Did some great faces though and a big thanks to Tash for pointing me to the Aussie Day butterfly idea this was the big seller of the day. I'll post some pics here soon - my computer is taking ages about it tonight so I gave up. I was pretty happy that all the kids got in the spirit and it was green and gold or red and blue all the way! Hope everyone else had a fun day - I'm guessing its a big day for painters across the country!

A bit late for this year but painted by my daughter. Aussie flag, Boxing kangaroo and Bundy Rum bear. More suited for adults though
