Review: Mark Reid's New Signature Gel Glitter- rated a 10!!!
I took Mark's Class at the Vienna, Va Jam last Sunday and as he was using bling to outline the demo butterfly, he mentioned that it is his new ultrafine Gel Glitter. I asked him if he had any spares and bought two on the spot!
I found out that Mark Reid's new Signature Gel Glitter will be debuted along with his Signature Brushes this week in the Mehron booth at FABAIC!
All Positive Review:
Mark's Gel Glitter (used like liquid bling) is ultrafine & the long applicator tube is flexable, delivering fine lines of ultrafine glitter as compared with the larger glitter in Liquid Bling on the right.
I refused to use the Liquid Bling metal tip on kid's faces & delighted that Mark came out with his Gel Glitter so my designs can be beautifully puncuated with it!
IMHO, I found that a little bit goes a long way with his Gel Glitters and may not have to replace them as often as the Liquid Bling.
Rated a 10!!!
Mark's Gel Glitters in various colors are must-have for your kit! GET 'em at FABAIC!!!

"the long applicator tube is flexable" um... why is that helpful?
I use the Liquid bling without the metal nozzle sometimes, but prefer the nozzle for fine control. And frankly, I don't waste it on kids either!!

i Think it's cause the tip is like those of the tulip fabric paints so you dont need the metal tip for line control.... looks cool - will have to try it!
Re: Review: Mark Reid's New Signature Gel Glitter- rated a 10!!!
Can we see a sample on your skin? I don't see that the size of the glitter would make that much difference since the gel holds it together, but can order the much finer glitter with my reorder if it does make a big difference.
Let us see a sample on, please.
Also, what is the big deal with using a tip on children? Mine more hover and never is dragged on the skin, so I am not sure what the problem is. If you are concerned they might move, the tip on Marks could just as easily stab them. Plus that tip looks the same as the ones on liquid bling without the metal tip. I can imagine how you get any precision without the metal tip. I tried and it only comes out in blobs.

Metina, the tips on the two bottles are different sizes. The plastic tip that comes on the bottle that Mark uses can be used with other gels, but that tip is smaller then the one that Ericka uses. Ericka uses the larger plastic tip along with the metal tips so that you can choose the control that you want. And of course you know the tips (metal) come in several sizes, the #7 is the one that I believe she recommends
I do like the Glitter gel Mark uses, as it seems to dry faster. I'll have to do a side by side compairson.

Drying faster would be a huge plus! Let us know.
Anyone know where to buy just the tips from either product. I can't seem to find the plastics producer who has them?

This is the manufacturer for the metal tips. I have never been able to find a good plastic tipped source.

I've seen these before too.
I have the gel to make the glitter---just can't find the right containers at the right price. They are so expensive.

The Glitzers are cool. I love how they combine the colours in a bottle. Beautiful effect. I haven't tried them, just seen pics on the website.
I can see that the glitter in Mark's is alot finer then the other brand. That would probably make a nicer look.
Drying faster would be a huge difference. I find the liquid bling wet way too long.
Thanks for the review.

Tips you say???? They are just pencil tips....#5, #7, #9. Lost or need a new metal tip, just buy a cheap mechanical pencil....it's the same tip. I bet even the plastic bic ones would work.

I am actually looking for the plastic inserts that go into the bottle that the metal tip fits onto. I buy them now as a kit, but would love to find them individually so I can offer lower prices.

Shannon, it's less damaging than a sharper metal tip.
Metina, the photo really shows the difference. Because the Gel Glitter lines are so thin, it drys faster and I use less than half as much as I did with Liquid Bling and get the same effect
This is what Mark Reid outlined the characters with during his class on Karen's arm. Actual size of the whole design is not quite four inches tall.
Hope this helps,
Susan

I would bet he is using .004 ultra fine glitter instead of the standard .008.
The particles are half the size of what you see in glitter tattoo kits.

Mark's looks like less than half the size of Liquid Bling glitter, just as sparkling and dries much faster! I'm so glad I don't have to use the metal tips for details anymore - they are just too dangerous around wiggly kids & adults. Mark knew what was needed and delivered with his product - just too cool and several take up permanent residence in my kit!

I don't know of any manufacturers that make it smaller than .004.

If you can get the softer plastic insert tips thinner than liquid Bling or almost as thin as Mark's, I'm sold on em and would prefer to get them from you! I don't like using metal tips at all.
Using a variety of combination colors would make your glitter Bling SO unique!
I'm saving the overpoof of my glitter tat glitter to create my own to refill my bling bottles ; D

Re: Review: Mark Reid's New Signature Gel Glitter- rated a 10!!!
Alright ladies, I know this thread is old...I bought the Mark Reid's glitter gel on silver, not so long ago..I encountered a problem!! It became all watery for some reason...Lost it's consistency!!
I shook it and applied it on me and is like water w/glitter..all runny.
I haven't exposed it to high temps. I have only used about a quarter of the bottle.
Is it ruined?
