Banner ideas
I'm working on my set-up and I'm not quite sure what to put on my banner? What's a good size banner? Got photos???
Re: Banner ideas
4 X 6 is a good size and I usually just put "Face Painting" as big as I can get it so people can see it from far away. I also put my web address and business name small so that it readable from about two feet away. Remember you want them to come get face painting, not be awed by your business name.
I have seen too many times where people put their names so large and face painting small.

Re: Banner ideas
I really lucked out for our banner. They "miscut" it, so they made another and gave me both! The miscut one doesn't have as big of a white border around the printed area... big deal. But what would they do with a facepainting banner?
4x6 has made an excellent wind-break on a super cold day. And it also helps as a "wall" for the back side of your set-up. But, I think I'd like a smaller, long one, like 1x6 that says facepainting for the top of my pop-up. I'm more than a little afraid to write it myself on the tent awning.
Having 2 was great one day... the event was on a canal below street level, so we put the second banner on the roof! People walking over could see us too!

Re: Banner ideas
I haven't used my banner yet but I've been involved with lots of events and organized many. The simpler the better so they'll see it from a distance.
I got this banner 6' x 2.5' for under $20 on Vistaprint and that's with the grommets and outdoor material. I love their 'free' deals. It's great for us small folks that only need one or two items and short runs. I got a tonne of stuff for super cheap. I think I even got free shipping because I spent more than $35 as I'd bought some calendars for Christmas at the same time. They were free too, but little things add up along the way. I got a lawn sign that is attached to my fence at home for any 'driveby' interest.
I ended up cutting off the bottom (white part) of this banner with my logo on it because I'm going to be doing an Olympic event and I can't 'advertise'. However, the 'facepainting' portion is in my logo colours so anyone that sees me another time or place will recognize me again. The more often folks see you the more your credibility builds. Below is my business card so you can see the similarity. All your marketing materials should have a 'flow' and connection to build on each other and recognize as the same business.

Re: Banner ideas
I'm hoping to have someone print them for me at my day job (I work for a print company) so hopefully I have it done for free. If not I'm going to see if Vista print has some freebies for me also.
Catz your business card is awesome. I was thinking of doing something like that with my banner. I'm definintely going to keep Metinas comment in mind. I hadn't mentioned anything about face painting on my entire design

Re: Banner ideas
Keep in mind the 'purpose' of the banner. It's to draw folks to your booth. Facepainting is the draw. Once they're there, you can give them a business card and have other marketing materials around to 'educate' them on who you are and the great work you do in a way that shows the benefits to them. Unless your logo is broadly recognized there's no point really putting it on the banner. I put it on mine because the vistaprint size was deeper than I'd wanted, but I'm glad it was easy to cut down. It looks way better now. I'll make another one for inside the tent with the photos and logo etc. PartiGras point about a 'windbreak' is a good one
Good luck!
Good luck!
Re: Banner ideas
Having your name/ www on the bottom edge (or any hideable edge) is a good idea, as it gives you the option of folding it up so you can still use the banner to advertise your services if you are hired by a company that doesn't want you advertising yourself, personally, so to speak. I get more use out of mine that I can do that with...
