Link exchange

Hey all......my Significant Other is a web designer/nerd who designed my site. He is knowledgeable about such things as Google rankings and the stuff I would never think of with this (go Nerds!).
He suggested that to help ALL of us with websites we do a link exchange...."I'll link you if you link me" (just don't read that as "lick"...totally different meaning ). The more links one has out there the higher your ranking goes.
Now, those of you who are at the top already may not need this (you could still help us poor newbies!), but those of us just starting out could always use a boost! Soooooo, anyone game? I have a spot on my site already for links (I've links to the forum and such), so adding any new ones takes just seconds. If we all link each other we can take Google (and Bing, etc.) by storm!!! Just reply with "link me"......(then link me, and I will link you!)

Don't forget to like each other on Facebook!!

I am game! My hubby is also a nerd and he has been working on my site. It is far from done but he will be adding a link page, I am willing to link to anyone that is party related. DJ's, clowns, ballonists, even table rental companies! My link is in my signature...

To a certain degree this is true. But... you are crossing into managing a "directory". I chose not to do that.

I link to material that has a direct relationship to me - places where my work is, listings of my information, Snaz contests, etc. I have one page of links but I am very selective about it.

I'm not sure if I understand correctly...
If I'm linking to other facepainters on my own website, that would be like providing a whole list of other facepainters to any customer visiting my website?!
Is that a wise thing to do?

I would only link to other painters that are not in my area...I agree l!zzie, it would be silly to list my competition lol.

Yep, as much as I hate to say it, I wouldn't link to local competition....that would not be a wise business move. I do see it as a nod to others in the business world-wide, and a way to lend a small bit of support.

I just have to say that I absolutely LOVE your butterfly Sandie....your daughter must be a very great canvas. Mine would never sit still for all those dots!

Thanks, Erica! That is not my daughter, however, although I'd claim her in a heartbeat! It's one of my students who's Mom is a volunteer in my classroom. They stayed after school Friday so I could use her as a model...she's a natural and LOVES to be painted!

It's called backlinking and as much as it's great it must not be overdone.
