Water base paint is the safest for mom's skin and the package that she carries so I wouldn't reccomend looking for something with more staying power. I typically spritz barrier spray on the artwork of if we can step outside, I use my aerosol barrier spray on the artwork when I'm finished. I know of some who've told me that they were able to keep their designs longer by using AquaNet hairspray on it...but I refuse to do that for them or suggest it for liability reasons.

Liquiset or Final Seal or fixier spray are all good products. The key is applying them BEFORE you paint as well as after. I've taken to using my airbrush to spraying final seal on body paints and halloween-type intricate face paintings that I want to last. I can't see why you couldn't use it on a belly, too.

I read somewhere about a fixer spray for belly painting, but as you can image this will be my first belly and I don't have any idea about it.
Honestly never has cross by my mind to use any other product that is not water base, but I am just curious to know if there are something that make it last a bit more than a couple of hours.

Ben Nye Final Seal

or

Green Marble Sealer

Apply first, before painting, and then after you finish painting. It has a tendency to smudge your paint a little if you are too close. The sealed paint can be removed with olive oil.

Ok I just have to say many products are formulated to work with other products. I know lots use Ben Nye but really unless you are using Ben Nye paints forget it because their paint is a different type of formula.

So what paints do you plan to use. As I just wrote not all sealors work well with all brands.

Yes to Green Marble, Kryolan Fixing pump spray (non areosal) or Mehron Barrier Spray.

As CJ noted liability issues. I wouldn't even touch a pregnant client unless I was insured. And based on liability I would use like brands so Mehron's Paradise makeup with Mehron's Barrier Spray or Kryolan Aquacolor with Kryolan's Fixing Spray. You just have to remember what you are dealing with here. If something arises people will look back and say what is the one thing this pregnant mother did different than others or her other pregnancies.... and it will be belly art. Mixing brands can and most likely will void a manufacturers liability. Sole liability then rests on the artist.

Agreed re: the Ben Nye final seal. I bought some when my supplier was out of stock of the Mehron barrier. It was absolutely useless over anything EXCEPT Ben Nye paints.

The Mehron Barrier and the Kryolan Fixing Spray seem to work over most water based paints. I don't know that I'd do any of those things on a pregnant belly though.

Thank you guys for the advice! and the tips!

To be honest I just tough to paint with my Snazaroo colors, I am agree that the safest products that I can use the best, but I thought will be nice to make the paint last a bit more.

I have even thinking about a glitter belly, I saw it in you tube and sounds like a great way to make the designs last at least for a few days, I just want o do a little bit more of research about the ingredients in the glue.

I've done a free hand glitter tattoo belly. You use a mix of the liquid and paste pros-aid to get a mix that's like henna, apply, let dry, apply glitter. As safe as a glitter tattoo!!

Very helpful all the tips

Just to let you know guys between reading your recommendations and checking around the web, I find the Blue Marble SELR a water base alternative, that I think can be a great option.
Thank you Lisa for pointing in that direction.
