I'm in love with a flying Dutchman =)
Hey ladies! I've been absent from the forum once again, but this time I had a really good reason...
Over 2 years ago I met a guy on deviantart (an art gallery community website), through pirate art nonetheless, and we developed a casual friendship. Now, I had always said I would never, not in a million years, end up in a relationship with someone over the internet... but, it just happened. I totally fell for him... problem is, he lives in the Netherlands and I'm in the USA. I told him how I felt one day when it seemed like something was telling me I had to let him know or hold my silence forever... and I took the plunge, telling him I was falling for him, only to find he had been struggling with the decision of whether to tell me he was falling for me or not! We've been officially dating for a year and 4 months today... but about 3 weeks ago, he arrived in the US for a visit! I was all kinds of nervous and excited and wondering if we would click in person as we had over the internet... and I was not disapointed! I just had such a wonderful amazing time with him, I wanted to share that news with y'all... I've been happier now than I ever have before. I've got a few gigs coming up in the next week or so, so wish me good luck... my man went home yesterday (well, he left yesterday and arrived today) and I miss him terribly...
Anyway, here's a picture of us in our pirate garb: http://captain-savvy.deviantart.com/art/Pirates-we-were-meant-to-be-138479533 OH, and for those who know and love the Pirates of the Carribean films... when we were saying emotional goodbyes at the airport, he told me to 'keep a weather eye on the horizon', which was just so romantic to me... I'm all giggly like a school girl. Hmm... there's my ramble. I hope everyone is doing well!
PS: He's a flying Dutchman at least while he's on the plane, right?

That's a great picture, and a great story! You both look happy and you look good together!
I buy that as a good reason

That is soo awesome and I love that picture! Long distance relationships can be a lot of work, especially when 2 different countries are involved. But it can work out, I know first hand. I met my sweetie online playing a video game, and we had immigration issues to work out for us to be together. We did it all by the book with lawyers so it was expensive too. I had to wait a year after we were married before I could finally move to Colorado to live with him.
if it is meant to be, it will happen!

Thanks, yall! And especially you, Metzpah! I've had my worries about the long distance relationship but I'm determined to do everything in my power for us to be together. And your story is inspiring to me

Oh that is an adorable picture...the way his hand is resting on your shoulder just evokes so much emotion and I can feel the electricity between you two!
I was just going to post that Kathy/Metzpah knows first hand about long distance and two different country romances! Glad she posted!
It can work if it's meant to be and you both want it. Congratulations and I hope your love continues to bloom and develop. I'm sorry you have to be apart...at least we have the internet today and you can chat easily!
Good luck with moving forward, it can be costly to get the paperwork taken care of it you or he decides to move to the other country!

yah, use the inter-net to communicate, something other than the phone, long distance bill were also a killer!
Re: I'm in love with a flying Dutchman =)
I've missed you Savvy! What a romantic and wonderful story! Internet relationships make a lot more sense than some realize, IMO. You can get to know one another heart and soul, and be best friends before physical aspects even come into the picture. Very refreshing in a world where many people get "together" before really even knowing one another. So, huzzah! And many well wishes to you both as you continue your relationship from afar.
Re: I'm in love with a flying Dutchman =)
Yay for the dutchman! I was born in Zaandam, Netherlands, but was three when my family came over here. We dutch come from sturdy stock, and are frugal, but I don't know what its like over there now. I plan to go and visit some time, my cousin has a bed and breakfast. She used to be a television star. Ask your dutchman if he ever heard of a children's show called The Uncle Kaktus show. She was Mrs. Stemband. In dutch it would be Mevrouw Stemband on De Grote Meneer Kaktus Show. So, now you have something to talk about!
