Swap meet worth the time and effort??
Has anyone ever done a swap meet? Are these different from a regular festival or street fair? This is a pretty large one and the space is awesome... 15' x 40' for $50 for 5 days! I'm just not sure with those prices if it's something that a lot of people attend? The organizers tell me they've never had a face painter but since it's only $50, it's worth a shot. What do ya'll think?

I used to go to the Swap Meets with my dad in San Diego, some of them are real vendors selling real stuff, others are like a huge yard sale. I would say it depends on which kind it is.

The video I saw (part of a newscast) showed lots of rv's and tents. I think it must be a little of both... plus they have a huge car show, competing for prizes. The newscast said they get up to 100,000 people on Friday and Saturday. I'm trying to find out from the organizers if I can JUST go on Friday and Saturday and not during the week.

Arkansas swap meets especially in your area can definitely be HUGE events.

Went to it once. Son's in-laws are HUGE car show buffs. They had a lot of vendors selling custom car stuff as well as tools, etc. (Hubby practically DROOLED about a REALLY expensive welder. LOL) Lots of people there with stuff to swap/sell. Folks with custom cars for sale as well as antique ones. Food vendors. Car show. It is aimed at the big boys but there were lots of wives and kids tagging along when we went. Can't say exactly how you'd do since they haven't ever had a face painter there. But at least now you have an idea about it.

Maybe the wives and kids will be thrilled to have something there "just" for them for a change!

Started going to the Sunday Markets where it's a mix of trade vendors, vegie sales and junk sales. Only AU$14 for a bay and I can cover that with only 3 faces, thereafter it's clear profit. Made quite a few birthday contact from it as well.

Well, I have a potential birthday party booking for that Saturday, so if she comes through and sends in the contract and deposit, I guess I won't be going. If she hasn't sent it in by next week, then I'm booking the swap meet
